Joe's Playland - through the years

In 1919, Joe and Jennie Haballa came to Salisbury Beach and founded Joe's Popcorn, a portable popcorn cart where they sold hot buttered popcorn and roasted peanuts. The popcorn cart moved several times over the years until they rented a stand next to the old Ocean Echo and later, The Frolics. In 1952, Joe and Jennie moved to their permanent location and opened Joe's Playland. Their nephew and his wife, Fred and Julia Abdulla, took over the business after Joe and Jennie passed on. Today, 100 years later, Joe's Playland is still proudly owed and operated by the Abdulla Family. Thank you to all our customers for your generations of loyalty and for helping us keep a small part of Salisbury Beach's history alive.
